I was born in Fife, Scotland and I have lived there all my life. I started at North Queensferry Primary School in 2008. When I was in P6 picked up my first Foreign language, French and instantly enjoyed the process of learning a different language.
When I went to Dunfermline High School in 2015, I continued to study French up to Higher. However, I only realised that I truly loved languages in 2020 when I also picked National 5 German and Spanish as subjects. Before long, I realized that I was particularly gifted in the German language and I also enjoyed speaking it!
When I left school in July 2021, I decided to go to Edinburgh College to get my Higher German. My initial plan was just to get the Higher and then study dance at The Royal Conservatoire. However, when I started college, I fell even more in love with the German language and culture and, at the end of my first year, I decided to stay on and get my Advanced Higher. The second year made me realize that I wanted to do it as a career so I studied harder and harder until I left EC with not only a B in Advanced Higher German but also the Edinburgh College German Student Of The Year Award 2023!
In October 2023, I started my degree in Language Studies with German and French at The Open University because I was inspired by my college lecturer Isobel to teach people like me foreign languages!
in February 2024, I received my second award for my work at Edinburgh College. The rather prestigious British Education Special Achievement Award! This meant that I was a double award-winning linguist before my 21st birthday!
“Eilidh is quite frankly one of the most passionate Germanists you could ever hope to meet.”
